Sunny Side Up

No matter how cold it is I still like to see the sun shining. It appears to be warmer than what it is. I would love to have the sunshine everyday. But in the northern states that is impossible.

I also would love good health year round. That has been hard to avoid this season. We have the saying "an apple a day keeps the doctor away", but what keeps the flu away? What is a person to do regarding this flu that's going around and around?

Being in a store with health products I often ask people what they do to stay healthy. The answers have been unique for each person. Sometimes it makes me chuckle.

Here are some of the responses I have heard.

1. Hibernate. I don't go to gatherings during the winter.

I guess that works, but kind of a lonely way to do it.

2. Keep my gloves on when shaking hands. When you shake someone's hand you won't have to worry as much of getting the crud.

That will work but you have to remember to wash or change the gloves often.

3. Douse myself with Thieves essential oil.

I have seen our thieves products sales greatly increase the last couple of months. I always remind people to err on the side of caution with children and babies. Do your research. There are even some oils unsafe for pets.

4. Eat better and drink more liquids.

There is something to be said about eating a healthy diet. Many use food as a medicine. Herbs are another huge area to search and find many great uses.

5. Get the flu shot.

I think there's a lot of controversy over this one. I saw a cartoon that showed a doctor with a dart (flu vaccine) trying to hit the target. There so many different strains of flu.

All of these may work for one and not for another. I guess if you haven't been sick in the last couple of months you are doing something right. With most of the remedies above the best thing is to start using before you get sick. You should use essential oils all the time. You should eat better and drink more water all the time. Once you get sick there's not a food or oil that will make it disappear immediately. I will let you know when I invent that remedy!

All this to say, do preventative work. Keep your immune system up, running and energized. If you have essential oils use them daily. Too many tell me they have a cabinet full of oils but they forget about them. Don't let this be you.

On these cloudy days keep the attitude of Sunny Side up, whether it's for your egg or attitude!
