Brushing your skin

We brush our teeth, hair and feet, why not our skin?

There are many reasons to use a natural bristle brush on your skin. Here are five of them.
1. Exfoliates Dead Skin - There are dead skin cells that we cannot see. The brush can help get rid of them and to renew the skin. Your skin will end up with a fresher appearance.
2. Stimulates the Lymphatic System - Brushing can help your lymphatic system by removing toxins from the body.
3. Reduces cellulite - It may help stimulate the cells and break down toxins from beneath the skin, which helps reduce the appearance of cellulite.
4. Unclog Pores - Unclog your skin's pores and help your skin absorb more nutrients with dry brushing.
5. Stress Relief - It can provide much needed stress relief and help your body heal much faster from any inflammation that it may have.
That explains the why and here is the how:
Make sure you purchase a natural bristle brush and not a synthetic one. A long handled one will reach all your areas on your body. Do not wet the skin. This is dry brushing. Remove your clothes and stand in your bathroom or bathtub. (Remember there will be dead skin falling) Start at the bottom of your feet, move in long sweeping motion toward your heart.
It seems as if we should brush away from us to get rid of the dry skin, but it can cause ruptured vessels and varicose veins. ALWAYS brush toward the heart. Brush each area of the body several times and overlap as you go to ensure that you do not miss a spot. Shower or bathe as you normally would.
It is helpful to exfoliate at least once or twice a week. The biggest hurdle is remembering to do it.
We have long handled natural bristle brushes available at our store.
